Pig City: from the Saints to Savage Garden
by Andrew Stafford (Paper C Format)

ISBN 0702233609
Category History - Australian
Pages 336
Release Date October 4th, 2004

From cult heroes the Saints and the Go-Betweens to national icons Powderfinger and international stars Savage Garden, Brisbane has produced more than its share of great bands. But behind the music lay a ghost city of malice and corruption.

Pressed under the thumb of the Bjelke-Petersen government and its toughest enforcers - the police - Brisbane's musicians, radio announcers and political activists braved ignorance, harassment and often violence to be heard.

Pig City maps the shifts in musical, political and cultural consciousness that have shaped the city's history and identity. This is Brisbane's story - the story of how a city finally grew up.

Darkness Out Monday in Australia!
Posted By fallen_angel on Thursday, December 2 2004 at 8:45 PM

Here's something to celebrate for Darren Hayes fans...the second single from Darren's latest opus 'The Tension And The Spark' is the album's stirring opening cut 'Darkness' and it hits stores around the nation this coming Monday in two awesome versions that y'all will want to get your hands on!

CD1 contains the radio edit of 'Darkness', non-album track 'Random Blinking Light', and the videos for 'Pop!ular' and 'Darkness' while CD2 contains the album version of 'Darkness' plus four phenomenal bonus remixes of the track from Mark Dynamix, Jaytech and more!

A vast departure from the upbeat, slick electro sounds of first single 'Pop!ular', the slow and sultry chill-out beats of 'Darkness' support some deep and heartfelt lyrical matter from Darren - acknowledging that our greatest fears are often becoming the very things we fear most. When he sings, "You discover the monster you've been running from is the monster in you," you not only believe him, you feel an undeniable identification with him in your core.

Showing that musical genius comes in many guises, Darren slyly delivers another knockout single with 'Darkness', his soul-baring, confessional efforts setting him in the realm of truly great songwriters.

'Darkness' CD1 tracklisting:
1. Darkness (Radio edit)
2. Random Blinking Light
3. Popular (Video)
4. Darkness (Promotional Short Form Video)

'Darkness' CD2 tracklisting:
1. Darkness
2. Darkness (dp Behind The Darkness Remix)
3. Darkness (Roc & Soul Club Mix)
4. Darkness (Mark Dynamix & Jaytech's Deep Glow Mix)
5. Darkness (Mark Dynamix & Jaytech's Ambient Glow Mix)
