Insatiable In Australian Charts & More
Posted Monday, January 21, 2002 by Stupy
Hi all,
Darren Hayes "Insatiable" single made an impressive debut on the Australian charts this week at #3. It is already certified gold (which means more than 35,000 copies have been sent to stores) and is held from the top by only Enrique Iglesias "Hero" and Pink's "Get This Parted Started". In the state of New South Wales, "Insatiable" is at number 1.
Savage Garden last reached these heights on the singles chart nearly three years ago now, when "The Animal Song" reached #3 in February 1999.
"Insatiable" was most likely helped out to a large degree by the availability of two single versions, that both contribute towards the same charting position. I expect the single to drop in the charts next week, but you never know =)
In other news, "Hold Me" was #47 on the Australian airplay charts for the year 2001. Incredibly, "I Knew I Loved You" also scored some end of year 2001 honours in the US charts (it was originally out in late *1999* remember):
Billboard Adult Contemporary - #9
Gavin Airplay Adult Contemporary - #11
Radio & Record Airplay Adult Contemporary - #13
Casey Kasem's Adult Contemporary - #13
Cheers!
Stuart
Insatiable Video Delayed Until February
Posted Monday, January 21, 2002 by lssilver
The video for Insatiable has been delayed until February due to reshooting in the US according to Roadshow Music.
Update: The reason the video was delayed is because there was not enough emotion in the video, not because Sony didn't like the colour of Darren's blonde hair. The new video has been shot and is apparently finished and should go to air soon.

Insatiable
Talk about starting off the new year with the heat turned up. The solo debut from Savage Garden frontman Darren Hayes oozes with such sensuality that you'll wonder what he's using to season his morning oatmeal. Lyrically, Hayes, with musical Wunderkind Walter Afanasieff, meshes romance and passion in a song that resembles Savage Garden's most memorable ballads - it's breathtakingly beautiful - while it is absolutely hand stamped with the bolder more personal flair of the highly personable Hayes, whose falsetto here soars like sun searing through the clouds. He sings "Turn the lights down low/Take it off, let me show/my love for you, insatiable." Breaking away from a known entity is always risky business (Savage Garden called it quits in 2000), but this is one solo road that seems paved in gold. Hayes' glittering debut effort is a shoo-in for all mainstream formats and just a glimpse of the pristine, upcoming Spin, an album that could make this star shine brighter than ever. Grade A stuff.
