DALLAS – Giving phone discounts is one thing, but giving away new house to prove your phone rates are worth having?
That’s what GTE Corp. is doing in a Texas-wide contest to promote its new custom-calling, flat-rate service packages, as part of its Saving Worth Moving For promo. GTE will give away a brand new Pulte high-tech-equipped home in one of its service areas to the lucky winner.
The contest is open to every Texas resident 18 years or older and entry forms are available at local GTE Phone Marts, the GTE Byron Nelson golf tournament, Pulte’s model homes in Plano, TX, or GTE Literacy Night at the Ballpark in Arlington.
The customized residential service plan offers local service plus three, five, or 12 custom-calling services like caller ID or call waiting. The plan can save users up to 41 percent on special calling services, hence the theme of the promo.
GTE customers who signed up for the new flat-rate service since it was offered last February or any new customers are automatically entered in the contest.
“We’re giving away a home as proof positive that GTE’s new custom-calling service package is attractive enough to consider moving to a GTE service area,” says GTE Network Services Regional President Larry Atwell.
The promotion is being supported by direct mail, print, radio advertising, and community events in conjunction with one of Dallas’ most popular radio stations. Since its introduction, more than 25 percent of local customers who received information about the offer have switched, Atwell says.
